Check out the great free utilities available here!

Grid Convert takes a variety of grid formats and converts between them, so you can use grids created in other software packages in Surfer, or export your Surfer grids for use in other software, such as ArcView/ArcGIS. Grid Convert also converts GeoTiff images into other grids, so you can access georeferenced data distributed in this format. In addition, you can import several other common bitmap formats (which are not georeferenced unless a worldfile is present) and convert them to grids. You can output any of the import formats to an series of XYZ triplets instead of converting to another grid format as well, if so desired.

Grid Convert also has a batch utility, so you can easily process large quantities of imagery.

Grid Convert imports the following formats:

GeoTiff (*.tif, *.tiff)

Golden Software Surfer (s7) (*.grd)

Golden Software Binary (s6) (*.grd)

Golden Software ASCII grids (*.grd)

ArcView ASCII (*.asc)

ArcView Float (*.flt with *.hdr)

Common Bitmaps (*.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.bmp, *.tif)

Grid Convert exports these formats:

Golden Software Surfer (s7) (*.grd)

Golden Software Binary (s6) (*.grd)

Golden Software ASCII grids (*.grd)

ArcView ASCII (*.asc)

ArcView Float (*.flt with *.hdr)

X,Y,Z triplets (space or comma delimited) (*.dat or *.csv)

Additional import/export formats are always under development, so check back for updates. If you would like to suggest a format, please send an email to support.
